When I created my first blog back in 2005, coming up with the perfect URL for it was a struggle. In the end, I managed to come up with a nick that stuck with me, even outside my blog circle.
So when I decided I wanted a new blog, choosing the new URL was such an arduous task. Not to mention the pressure (mostly from myself, haha)!
‘kingofchocolates’ truly represented who I was, even if I failed to live up to the expectation of some who actually hoped I would post about the best sweets in the world. Hmm, now that I think about it, I actually never had a single post about chocolates! Anyway, it was catchy enough and to think that it took me a long time to come up with it, I knew it might take extra longer to produce a new and better one.
In the end, I settled for ‘jrldizon’. And it’s actually not catchy at all! Haha! But hey, it’s sooo me.
I actually chose it more for its convenience than its promotional potential. Besides, I figured most celebrity bloggers have URLs named after them. So why not do the same, huh? Hehe.
Plus, it’s a new blog, all part of this ‘new me’ I have going on. So, I just wanted my blog to me, just simply me and not some version of me who pretends to be oh so cool that I need a another English phrase with an oh so cool play with words to best represent the ‘me’.
Choosing the blog title and subtitle was the second most challenging task. I literally stayed up so late in sleepily squeezing the creative juices out of me to hit upon a catchy one. My URL is quite the opposite of catchy, so I at least have to have a catchy title.
I was able to whittle down the choices to two and finally settled on “Zoom out | Looking at the bigger picture”. Then a friend pointed out it that while it’s meaningful, it sounds like I’m maintaining a blog on photography. But no, this isn't a photo blog, as you may have already noticed. Much as I want to join the techie bandwagon and foray into art photography, I can't do so for I'm short of the proper gadgets. While my N90 cam phone has been handy enough to catch the rare picture perfect moments in my life, its shots just won’t make the cut.
My title sort of represents my ‘personal battleplan’. When it comes to dealing with what life throws at me every day, I prefer to think 'long-term' most of the time. Sometimes, things are not really what they seem. The wiser man pauses and views things from another angle in such a way that he can understand better -- he looks at the bigger picture. That's when he sees, what he really should be seeing. And yes, I am aiming to be wiser these days – again, all part of this ‘new me’ I have going on.
If you want to be linked and be blog buddies, just let me know. Sometimes, I voluntarily link people up when I like what I read. It would also help if you visit and comment regularly, hehe. I do know the blogosphere is quite a symbiotic world.
