Movie #34: The Hangover 2

Watched it last: June 2
Released last: May 2011
Why I watched it: Hangover 1 was actually fun. So I had to watch the sequel. It took me years to watch the first one, so it also took me a year to watch the second one. Haha.

The first one was better, hands down. For one, the 'wolf pack' was rather incomplete. Doug was already "missing" in the first movie, so I think it would've been better if he joined in the action this time.

The inclusion of the Teddy character was a little letdown for me because it would've added a different layer to the wild adventure (his wild antics in the flashback scenes were hilarious). I know that the structure is that someone had to be missing, but I just wish we got to see how a Standford teenage prodigy would come to terms with a once in a lifetime wild night experience. As a compromise, more flashback scenes of his wild adventure, perhaps?

The Alan-isms were the highlight of the movie. Haha! Zach Galifianakis was simply entertainingly eccentric. Overall, the movie was still quite entertaining, but you might find yourself thinking that you've laughed at similar jokes before.

Oh, and I thought Stu's tattoo was actually cool.

Critical Reception: 35% on Rotten Tomatoes
I'd rate it around: 54%. Rated SPG for the scenes not suitable for children. Haha! It's not quite slapstick comedy, but not exactly smart comedy either. Still, there's plenty of laughs for everyone.

_______________
As I did in 2011, I am listing down the movies I watch for 2012, along with my comment about each viewing experience. These movie pseudo-review/commentaries are hardly scientific. There might be days that I might be more tolerant of crappy movies and so I might find myself going easy on the critique. More so, my "critiques" are hardly theoretical because I admit I have not taken any proper film critiquing classes, haha! I most usually lash out "in the moment". I try to be as objective as possible, but know that we all have our own different tastes when it comes to films.
